Communication

To achieve the best possible outcome for your home addition we believe good communication is the critical. This process starts from the initial on site consultation by director David Porter to discuss your ideas. It continues through our in-house design process, the development approval and of course, during the build.

During the building phase we take the time to discuss the progress of the works. We encourage your questions.

Design

As both a builder and designer we can present you with different design options to blend your concept and budget with our design expertise.

The Process

A standard building process for an addition that requires development approval may include the following steps:

Quality control inspections are carried out at all critical stages of the works as standard practice. Compliance with the relevant codes and standards, the building's specification and the owner selections are checked.

Safety

The safety of our customer, the public and our team members are paramount to us. Before starting your project we will plan to minimise your disruption and inconvenience. Where possible the impact of the works on the customer will be minimised by using alternative access to your property and separating your existing living areas from the new works. Dust screens, window and floor protection are some of the strategies used.

During the building phase the site is kept clean. Rubbish is collected and contained in skips where possible. Materials are stockpiled and covered. This not only makes the site a safer place but helps to make the building process more efficient and create enjoyable work environment.

The requirements of the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 form the basis of our team's safety culture.

Sustainability

Our designs exceed the requirement of the Building Sustainability Index (BASIX), they can incorporate simple passive elements such as high R-value insulation, building orientation use of thermal mass and eaves shading. Active sustainable measure may include water recycling, energy efficient electrical fittings,

Durability

After getting the design and finish of your addition right it only makes sense to keep it that way for as long as possible. Proven, durable materials and finishes are used to keep your investment looking good for years to come.

We use and recommend Dulux paints and Colourbond metal roofing. Framing timbers are at least H2 treated against termite attack. External fasteners are either galvanised or stainless steel. Our decking hardwoods have a high durability class rating.

As part of our service we can advise you for the ongoing maintenance of your house.
